Team Malizia's Co-skipper Will Harris finished the last leg of the Ocean Race Europe tour

Team Malizia did not take part in the race, but co-skipper Will Harris did, as a skipper aboard Akzonobel Racing Team's VO65. After a very close finish with Portugal's Mirpuri Foundation Racing Team, who were level on points at the start of the last leg, they finished second.

Still, the battle is not over, on Saturday the teams will compete on a coastal race which will determine the podium.

This tour is great training for Will, who will be joining Boris Herrmann onboard Team Malizia's new IMOCA 60 next year in the the full Ocean Race which starts in Alicante in October 2022 and which will go around the world for 9 months stopping in 10 cities.

Will Harris says: “That was a very challenging leg tactically. We had light winds basically from the start with the fleet doing snakes and ladders most of the way. After the start we struggled to be in the top pack and that meant the leaders extended a 30 mile lead on us. Towards the end we managed to make a big tactical decision to find more wind that the boats ahead and sailed past them to take 2nd place. Happy to have this result but now the race is on for winning overall with the final coastal race on Saturday. “
