From the 19th until the 24th of September, the French town of Lorient will become a hub of famous sailors racing to compare their new or tried and tested foiling IMOCA sailing yachts.

35 teams, including Team Malizia’s Boris Herrmann and Will Harris onboard the Seaexplorer, will push their boats to the limits during three separate competitions.

On the first race day the sailing duos will compete in speed runs, where the aim is to cover a distance of one nautical mile as fast as possible. Day two, three and four will see them sail offshore for around 48 hours following a marked course in the Atlantic. Finally, bringing the race week to a conclusion, on the final day, they will complete a tour around the nearby Ile de Groix.

This event will give us a chance to see a direct comparison of the current IMOCAS, many of which will take part in the upcoming Transat-Jacques-Vabre and the famous Vendee Globe 2024/25.
